matkot

on another beautiful, sunny day, post 4:2, i decided to spend the day at tel aviv beach. this is a big step for me because, dear readers, i hate mallorca, frying in the sun, and everything that goes with it. but thankfully, beach life here is very different to the costa del sol.

for a start, it's a family outing. especially on a saturday entire mishpochot (i think that may be correct hebrew) migrate to the med, with containers of food and drink, toys for the kiddies, games, parasols, and more stuff that seems impossible to fit into one car alone. and what a great beach it is! soft sand (no pebbles, dear english readers), and very shallow water. 40 metres in, i was still covered only to my waist, and the water was so refreshing!

as i was watching the local beach bums playing matkot in earnest, a kind of beach tennis, i felt like the little girl in the candy store: i want him, this one looks nice, that one has a cute bum... some eye candy, girls! the family on the towel field next to me invited me to some fruit for lunch. i thanked them by buying the little son and myself some ice cream. after all, the way to a mother's heart is through her son's stomach!

went home in the afternoon to discover i was bright red and stripy like a zebra. typical.
