album one - beirut, sidon

view from the mayflower hotel in downtown beirut. the a/c worked, and they did a great breakfast. we stayed there for 2 nights. i couldn't wait to get the the mediterranean though, here it is!

the harbour of sidon, busy busy, with its medieval castle:

hariri, the assassinated prime minister, was everywhere. he had his own shrine in the city centre, and a tower of books was erected for him by all the lebanese students he supported.

near the national museum. the damage of the civil war is still visisble on the former green line. but the cafe opposite the national museum does the best shawarma i had on the entire trip. ever.
